Thank you I have been given a tub of leather and bought cheap tools on Amazon so you are helping me finish my tool collection
One thing I learned about leatherwork is the only way to make money at it is to cut up second hand clothing and furniture and handbags. New leather is ridiculously priced by a small number of suppliers who dominate the market making the trade financially unviable.
thanks for video. very informative for me as a new in Leatherwork. subscribed/liked. one question: de paint [12:04] "Eco-Flo", I want to try to buy it, where I can find it? am living in Netherlands. am busy to learn painting leather with Airbrush. am planning to buy a compressor and a Airbrush. busy to find out which one is best for me. thanks in advance
I've been using Resolene for some time but don't like the finish as it's more a plastic feel and prone to cracking, also stops you moisturising leather later on
Hi, can you pls help me out
I made this! and after 8 or so years still wear it every day. Thank you
Hi i ust found this ... great instruction thank you....
I don't get any edge burning -but my laser is low powered. It is a 5w diode and I run it at 87% and set it so that it takes at least 4 passes to cut. it works great.
Great ideas
I use a steel washer with a slightly larger hole, to sit on top of the copper washer , to use as a spacer for cutting off the post.
😂😂😂 shity leather.
Hi Ian. I have some John James needles 001, 002, 003, and 004. The 1,2, and 3 all seem to be same length and diameter. Am I missing something?
Hello making first belt and dying it black. Not sure if I burnish the flesh back and then dye. Or can it even be dyed?
Dye then burnish
beautiful work
use a plastic top of a coffee can and but it out for your curved type to match.
Gauges lol I just verbally it. If it's toooo thic I put it on a diet either a splitter or a Ludacris amount of skiving
what is this type of clasp called?
Thank you for the excellent video. As I watching this it hit me...If I was a self-respecting Gondorian soldier who stood at Pelennor Fields or the Black Gate, that engraving would offend me to anger, to see the symbol of my kingdom surrounded by the black speech. And then I told myself to just appreciate the insights in the video instead.
Very thorough and comprehensive tutorial. Well worth the time spent watching. I'll be watching your other videos too. Subscribed. Thank you Ian.
My current door bell isn’t hard wired but is battery operated- is this still doable or will the Ring Door Bell run the batteries down really quickly?
You just need to buy a battery ring doorbell then you wouldn’t be using the existing battery
Thank you for the video. I installed it and I only get the lower white ring.
I feel like this video gives the impression that the sticks with a wick are "traditional" and the ones that are cut up and melted are supple. This isn't the case, supple wax comes in both forms as well as beads, the form factor does not identify the type of wax. In fact I'm fairly certain both of the ones you're using are supple wax, their resulting appearance only being different because the J. Herbin wax is much higher quality. It's also worth noting that historically, sealing wax didn't have a wick in it at all, it's a relatively modern addition.
I don't know about the UK, but here in America or at least where I buy leather, it's wrapped in a heavy duty paper (that I use for dying and painting under the leather) but also in a long box. Keeping it in the cardboard box should be good, right? As a beginner, I'm always looking for these tips. Thank you.
Yes if you have the space keeping the cardboard boxes is a good idea
Thanks.
I know this is an older video, but I'm just now coming across it. If you see this comment, could you tell me if you know of any issues with zippers with metal teeth vs. plastic teeth regarding strength and/or failure tendencies?
Hi Ian I've been watching your posts for the past good few years-- Complete good--- If I can say- I hope your move goes well, hopefully you'll be back----
Use lucite backing you can see where the stamp will go
Brilliantly explained. I was having trouble tying the Diamond Knot for a knife lanyard. I still need practice, but I'm now understanding the concept better from this video than any other video I've seen on the topic!
Thank you for the video. But the concave in the doming is even, rotating the tool does not change anything.
Thanks for the video, it really looks like it isn't worth all the hassle tho haha, I'll send mine back
I need a stamp of loony toon character Yosemite sam for my leather 7
Sorry this happened to you man.
I feel that this just happened to me. I didn’t understand how my purchase could be fake because there is an existing shop, you tube channel and an Etsy shop. Man….
Nice work been in the leather trade 50 years making custom horse saddles and made a few guitar straps over the years as I play my self be ok if you brought black or brown butts or any other colour never leave change on the leather in other words hammer marks put a piece of leather there 👍
Nice project! Well done!
Qué gran trabajo artesanal, gracias por compartir 👌 saludos
I use my cutter to mark out rather than cut leather, unless I specifically want the barbeque look to my edges... great video btw
Thanks so much for sharing your craftmanship and your great attention to detail. I learned a lot.
What is the model number of your knipex cutters? Thank you
Very nice
That looks really useful. Takes the craft to the next level.
Hi, I have an unrelated question. Do you know what happened to Hedgehog Leatherworks?
Hi, I have a question totally not related to the video. What happened to Hedgehog Leatherworks?
можно же было добавить описание, типа линю смочить таким-то раствором, сделать надрез таким-то инструментом, через определённое время сделать то-т
Have you ever used hide glue?
thank for the information very helpful and i like your stereo
Stop sucking ur dayim teeth
Lol you put the pizza box down and i thought it was a box of cables. I was like "Huh? What kind of cable would ge called mozzarella?" Then i realized you had ordered a pizza. 😂
Nice video still after all years. I have managed with the cheapest Chinese waxed nylon threads from eBay.
